A man was sentenced today (September 11) after a jury convicted him of conspiring to traffic in counterfeit goods. The defendant was arrested in a Bangkok jail on Monday and has now pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiracy.
The defendant admitted he would distribute the counterfeit goods to consumers in thekok.pk, one of the largest e-commerce sites in the world. The drug counterfeiters had allegedly supplied the buyers with counterfeit Viagra and other drugs from India and China, including tadalafil, the makers of the drugs.
The defendant also admitted that he had ordered the products from China, the makers of which are still unknown. The defendant admitted he had obtained counterfeit Viagra in thekok.pk and then ordered the products from China. The drug counterfeiters had allegedly supplied the buyers with the drugs from China and then sold them to the defendant, who then used the drugs to increase the price of the drug and other products.
The defendant admitted he was convicted of one count of conspiracy and one count of conspiring to traffic in counterfeit goods. He was also ordered to pay $20,000 in restitution to the victim of his arrest.
